One of Chicago's premiere Hammond B3 players, Pete Benson has been in-demand as both a pianist and organist for over 25 years. Voted one of the top jazz organists for Down Beat magazine's Rising Star Critics Poll seven years running, Pete can be heard performing a varied repertoire inspired by organ greats such as Larry Young and Melvin Rhyne along with standards by Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, and Roland Kirk, to name a few.
The Pete Benson Organ Trio performs a varied repertoire inspired by organ greats such as Shirley Scott, Larry Young and Melvin Rhyne, playing recognizable standards in addition to deeper cuts that feature the unique sound of the B3 organ. Notable recordings include: "Five Down Blues,” The Kyle Asche organ trio, “Live at The Green Mill,” the George Freeman & Mike Allemana Organ Quartet with Special Guest Bernard Purdie, “Sabertooth Live at the Green Mill” and “Sabertooth Plays Dead.”
