Late Night Concert Series w/George Fludas
Showtimes: 10:30pm-11:45pm
Veteran Chicago drummer George Fludas Presents... Pocket Change, a quartet consisting of Scott Burns or Geof Bradfield - saxophone, Pete Benson - keyboard, and Kyle Asche - guitar. The band draws from a wide variety of stylistic influences including soulful jazz organ quartet classics, hard bop, funk grooves and harmonically adventurous contemporary repertoire.
George Fludas was born in Chicago on October 10, 1966. His interest in drumming began when he was very young due to the influence of his father, who loved straight-ahead-swinging jazz and who played drums as a hobby. His father taught him the basics and frequently took him to see the great jazz drummers, such as Art Blakey, Max Roach and Buddy Rich.
George soon developed a passion for the great recordings of Blue Note, Prestige, Savoy, Riverside and Impulse records. Since then he has performed with a who's who of Jazz greats, including Kenny Burrell, Betty Carter, Junior Cook, Lou Donaldson, Tommy Flanagan, Roberta Gambarini, Benny Golson, Benny Green, Eric Reed, Johnny Griffin, Roy Hargrove, Barry Harris, Hank Jones, Buddy Montgomery, David "Fathead" Newman, Nicholas Payton, Marlena Shaw, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Ira Sullivan, Clark Terry, Frank Wess and Phil Woods.
