Renown Chicago bass guitarist, Frank Russell is the recent recipient of the prestigious “2020 Jeff Award For Original Music In A Play” in collaboration with the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the only bass guitarist to grace the cover of Chicago Jazz Magazine.
Frank has performed with Ramsey Lewis, Wallace Roney, Freddy Hubbard, Alphonse Mouzon, Willie Pickens, Ken Chaney, Henry Johnson and many more. Frank’s latest album, “Influences: A Tribute To Guitar In Jazz”, found great acclaim and radio airplay.
Grammy award winning writer, Neil Tesser wrote, “I can’t imagine a more suitable artist for a project like this. Not only because Frank is such an astute chronicler of bass guitars evolution in jazz, but also because he can illustrate every stylistic development along the way.”
