Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the city partnership between Chicago and Hamburg, Germany various members of the NDR Bigband will meet musicians from Chicago Jazz scene at Andy's Jazz Club for an exciting Jam Session. The members of the NDR Bigband will team up Chicagoan's Jon Irabagon (sax), Bobby Broom (guitar), Tim Hagans (trumpet) and more in the time honored tradition of the all professional jam session. A spontaneous meeting of talent, skill, culture to create a once in a lifetime musical happening that those in the know are enderingly calling The Hamburg-Chicago Sessions.

The NDR Bigband is one of the oldest big bands in Germany. Founded in Hamburg in 1946 as a dance orchestra, the NDR Bigband is one of the most inspiring jazz orchestras in Europe. Musically, the ensemble transcends all genre boundaries and opens itself up to diverse cultures on the basis of jazz. The unmistakable sound of the NDR Bigband is characterized by the unique sound of 17 outstanding musicians. 1,600 concerts, numerous invitations to festivals at home and abroad and 120 record releases tell their own story. Tours with artists such as Al Jarreau, Randy Brecker, Omar Sosa, Maria Schneider, Bobby McFerrin, Chet Baker, Carla Bley, Nils Landgren, Etta Cameron and many other artists, not only from the world of jazz, have taken the NDR Bigband to many countries in Europe, North and South America and Asia.
