Proximity is a sonic study of space and time and its relation to influence. Exploring the genres of Chicago house, jazz, funk, footwork and soul to show how their proximity helped influence the innovative new sounds and new approach to composition led by Chicago bassist Micah Collier.

Micah Collier brings a new resonance to contemporary jazz. Bridging the classic sounds of John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Thelonious Monk with the eclectic ease of Robert Glasper to create his unique sound of Jazz Fusion. He expands the understanding of jazz to be inclusive of other genres to create a music that feels good to the soul.
