SUMMARY:1st Set With Chika Inoue & Shawn Maxwell
DESCRIPTION:Showtimes:   6pm-7:15pm & 8:15pm-9:30pm\n\nConcert saxophonist, Chika Inoue spent most of her youth in Frankfurt, Germany and San Diego, California. Chika has been praised by The Los Angeles Times with “beautiful tone, acute sensitivity and virtuosic technique.” Al Schmitt, 20-time GRAMMY winning recording engineer and producer applauded with “Most delicate tone I have heard throughout my career.” James Conlon, music director of LA Opera has congratulated with “beautiful sound.” She appears regularly as a saxophonist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic.\nChika has received numerous performance awards and lavishing praise as a soloist and chamber musician leading to extensive concert touring in North America, Europe, and Asia. She teams up with Chicago Jazz saxophonist Shawn Maxwell this weekend for a truly unique musical pairing of Classical & Improvisational.\nAs a composer, recording artist and performer, saxophonist Shawn Maxwell has endeavored to express his own unique voice. From his latest album Millstream (Jazzline, 2020) to his debut Originals (self-released, 2005), he has released nine albums of original compositions. The traditions of jazz form the foundation for Shawn’s music; he builds on that with material from the music he grew up with – rock, funk, hip hop, R&B, classical. The result, as Hrayr Attarian wrote in Chicago Jazz Magazine, “is refreshingly distinct yet recognizably Maxwellian”. He’s not intent on following any rules – or on breaking them – but on continually expanding what his music encompasses.\nClick Here For All Reservations\n\n\n
