    Micah Rutschman is a vibraphonist based in Chicago. He started playing percussion at the age of 10. As a teenager, he discovered Jazz and sought out every opportunity that he could to perform the style of music. By the age of 16, he was performing with the Gallery 37 Jazz Band, the Ravinia Jazz Scholars Combo, as well as the Merit School of Music Honors Jazz Ensemble. It was around this time that he heard Milt Jackson for the first time on the album Bags and Trane and was immediately drawn to the vibraphone.

Micah Rutschman holds a Doctor of Musical Arts, as well as a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Music from Northern Illinois University. Micah has performed at many notable venues, including Chicago Symphony Center, Ravinia Festival, Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Jazz Showcase, and the Cadillac Palace Theatre. In 2008, he was a finalist and prize-winner at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Jazz Improvisation Competition held in Austin, TX. Micah has performed with numerous world-class musicians, including Peter Erskine, Valerie Naranjo, Bobby Broom, Willie Pickens, Fareed Haque, Marquis Hill, and many others. Micah is currently on faculty at Oakton Community College.
