-5:00pm and 7:00pm- Simon Dufour & New Context
Start Date/Time: Saturday, May 12, 2018 5:00 PM
New Context is a groove-forward jazz project that voyages between the avant-garde and ’90s hip-hop beats. They draw inspiration from torchbearers like Robert Glasper, the Soulquarians, and Christian Scott's album 'aTunde Adjuah'. Born from the ashes of a dissolved live hip hop band, the Chicago-based four-piece group rebranded to embrace more exploratory, funkier directions.

Simon Dufour is a jazz, hip-hop, groove alto-saxophonist and composer residing in Chicago.  He has had collaborations with producers and rappers such as Saba, Chad and Ken Ross, BoneLang, Miki Debrouya and more.

The band also features drummer Ryan Lehrman, who studied under bass legend Richard Davis (Miles Davis, Bruce Springsteen, Ahmad Jamal) during his time at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Their second single dropped late January in anticipation of their upcoming EP, which is due Summer 2018.
